Change to the Blog

I finally gave in to Blogger's nagging and upgraded the blog to the new widgetized version.

Unfortunately, it won't allow me to put a list of links to recent posts near the top, but insists on populating the archive list with them. Look for links to off-page posts at the bottom with the archived items.

I'm curious to see how and if the feed mechanisms in the About (pale green) section work. Let me know. The biggest new item is at the foot of the right hand column where Blogger has come up with something called "Followers" where I guess it shows people who sign up to "follow" this blog. I stuck it in to see how it works. It may or may not stay.

fwiw, this blog is my political home page. i only go to the links you have listed on the right, with one exception - No Quarter. What happened? It used to be a link on your blog. Now I have to type it in by hand. Egads!

Hi Turtle,

I reluctantly dropped No Quarter because I strongly disagree with the kinds of arguments they are putting forward and I don't like the increasingly pro-Republican slant.

I said early on in the campaign that friends don't let friends vote Republican. I will not cast a vote for them, nor will I ever say a kind word for their policies or objectives. I can appreciate good political strategy and give credit where credit is due on that point.

OK. I understand. I've noticed the pro-Republican slant on No Quarter, but I've always assumed it reflects my own sentiments (i.e. a methodology of punishing the Democrats for their numerous failings this season, not an expression of true underlying ideology.)

I'm glad there's Democrats fighting on both sides of the fence. You - the wise woman in the cave on the other side of the mountain staying true to principle; and those just too fed up to give a damn anymore and who are not ashamed to "let spite rule".

Larry's a Republican, though highly independent and adamantly opposed to the Bush/Cheney regime. Even when he drives me crazy, I gotta give the guy his due. The emphasis on the blog, however, is defeating/punishing Obama rather than reforming the Democratic Party. This leads them into arguments and claims I don't support and think are counter-productive to my objectives.

I'm not any "wise woman". I'm a life-long Democrat who is tired of seeing her party piss away political opportunity so that they can stay popular with the Village. I'm tired of seeing the puritans of the party attack ordinary voters for imagined moral sins while they kiss Republican asses and vote for Alito and Roberts. I'm sick of young white upper middle class males who have never had to work retail lecturing me about race, class and gender, pompously informing me that I'm on the wrong side of the issues because I don't like their candidate.
